My Story: Making Space

Have you noticed that there is no room left in the garage for your car? Does your closet resemble the receiving room at a thrift store? Is your bookshelf a scene out of "Fahrenheit 451"? Own enough pots and pans to cook for the Third Regiment? If you answered "yes" to more than one of these questions, it's time to take arms against a sea of possessions. The most obvious solution is to hold a garage sale and get strangers to clean out the mess for you. They'll even haul it away, and compensate you with real cash on the barrel head (if you have a barrel in there)...

One of the key rules in organizing and decorating is to utilize vertical space. Often, we place furniture around the room with nothing above it, forming a nice horizontal line. There is a ton of unclaimed storage and visually appealing space right above the furniture line! For most organizing projects, you have four choices: hang it, put it in a drawer, store it on the floor, or shelve it...

Before my daughter was born, I always considered myself an organized person. My house was always clean, and my life ran like clockwork. I enjoyed planning meals and cooking.
